- Welcome and Introductions
Everyone shared wonderful experiences about enjoying the dock this summer, with families, friends, neighbours & grandchildren. Comments like “can’t imagine Grantham’s without the dock”, “it’s the heart of the community”, “it’s the dock that brings everyone together – building community spirit”!
Moved/Seconded: Leslie / Gail: To approve the minutes of the last Annual General Meeting, of July 10, 2015.
Minutes shared and approved, community was appreciated .
- Business Arising from the Minutes
- It was not feasible to allow boats any moorage since the dock is not strong enough to handle larger craft. Only pick up / drop off use for smaller crafts is feasible.
- Discussion on “policy” and how to handle challenging situations resulted in the following suggestions: inform users that swimming only is allowed on one side; pick up / drop off by small crafts only is allowed on the other side; No Moorage allowed; no dogs allowed. New signage is coming.
- Unable to identify a “go to person” – up to all of us to inform others
- Policy on allowance of Pets was revisited and reinforced, Email to be sent reminding the community about pets being allowed on the Dock. e.g. You may be asked to take your dog away by other members on the dock.
- Concern was raised by several members regarding pets on the dock; and the open use of consumption on the wharf, especially while children are present.
- A question was asked on how many members do we have in the community. (answer: 157 on the GWA mailing list)
- Annual Report from the Chair
Bjorn highlighted that the four stage wharf rebuild is completed, on time and on budget! The work parties were highly successful with amazing champions, builders, carpenters, and great refreshments contributed generously.
Completed Projects in 2015:
- Brace the piling which was too short
- Complete Stage 4 – re-deck, build support and railings for the last 50 foot section.
Ongoing Projects for 2016/2017:
- Build racks for kayaks, canoes, boards
- to be rented at $50/year
- to members who are up-to-date with their annual dues
- New signs for the wharf
Discussion
When floats are stored for the winter, it takes about 6 weeks for the smell of rotting mussels, seaweed, and debris to subside! Ideas put forward were to power wash the mussels and debris away; clean the floats on the beach before moving them. This has now been carried out and was carried out at site of stowage in October 2015.
M/S/C: Evie / Gail: To approve the Annual Report from the Chairman

Treasurer Nicky Grafton presented Financial Statements to December 31, 2015 (statement attached) that included the following information:
